For more than 30 years, Lehrman has studied, practiced and innovated at the intersection of community organizing, marketing, and customer service in a career spanning government affairs, banking, and non-profit management - including as the Founder and long-time Executive Director of Alliance for Audience & ShowUp.com, a statewide collaboration of Arizona's arts & cultural sector.
Matt speaks and consults nationally on topics of consensus building, civic engagement, and customer experience. Also, since 2012, he has served as adjunct faculty member at Arizona State University where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on marketing, entrepreneurship, and business management.
John’s enduring passion for community building is rooted in 35 years of service and leadership in local and regional government plus seven years providing strategic planning services and executive coaching to clients in the for-profit, not-for-profit and public sectors.
Before being named City Manager, John served in increasingly responsible roles within the City of Scottsdale - heading departments of Human Resources, Organizational Effectiveness and Transportation as well as being appointed Executive Director for Downtown Development where he facilitated an estimated $6 billion in public and private investment over a 4-year period.
John is the City's only two-time honoree of the Bill Donaldson Award recognizing excellence in leadership, innovation, risk-taking, team work, creative problem-solving and community service. As well, he was honored by the Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors as "Citizen of the Year" for his important contributions to community building.
